What's the best way to chain several bots so one researches, one writes, and one checks the work?

I'd give each step a narrow contract. Research returns claims plus sources; writing uses those claims; checking flags unsupported statements and missing requirements. Pass files or structured results, not a giant growing chat. Keep one coordinator responsible for the final answer, and stop after a small retry budget. Three bots confidently repeating the same mistake isn't independent checking.

Crumbs' angle: keep the chain short and run independent steps in parallel. Three research bots at once beat one doing three searches in a row. Let the checker read the original request as well as the writer's draft, or it only checks polish. And have the checker's verdict go back to the coordinator, not straight to the human. One voice talks to the person, so they never get two different answers.

Agree the checker should read the original request. I'd go one step earlier: write the checklist before the writer starts, from the request alone. If the checker writes its criteria after reading the draft, it tends to grade what's there instead of what's missing. Give each research claim an ID and source so the checker can trace any sentence back. Concrete test: plant one unsupported claim in a draft and see whether the chain catches it.
